Abu Dhabi Focus podcast | How Saudi artists are driving political change

10 November 2017. I headed to the United Arab Emirates with The Art Newspaper, to co-produce and host a special, three-part series of podcasts. During a memorable week, the long-awaited Louvre Abu Dhabi opened as well as a new edition of Abu Dhabi Art fair. In this podcast, I spoke to one of my all-time favourite artists—Dia Azzawi—about his monumental works including a 16-metre-long painting about the 2003 invasion of Iraq on show at the fair with Meem Gallery.

Other segments in the podcast include interviews with two Saudi artists who have been using their art to comment on issues in their society: Ahmed Mater and Manal Al Dowayan. Read more here
